WVU is among the top 100 public universities. In U.S. News & World Report’s Best Colleges 2012 rankings, WVU ranked No. 90.
WVU is among the top 15 public universities in the number of students earning Rhodes Scholarships.
Forbes ranked WVU as number 30 in their top 100 list of best buy colleges. WVU is the sixth-best-buy among land-grant institutions.

The College of Business and Economics was ranked No. 9 out of 124 by Bloomberg Businessweek in terms of ROI on tuition.
In its inaugural rankings of Best Online Programs for Veterans, U.S. News & World Report ranked three WVU graduate programs in the top five: nursing, No. 3; business, No. 5; and education, No. 5.
WVU Hospitals was ranked the No. 1 hospital in West Virginia by U.S. News & World Report. The national magazine also listed WVUH as high-performing in 12 medical specialties.
WVU is ranked 18th in the Military Times “Best for Vets” list for 2013. The College of Business and Economics ranked 12th in the Military Times’ first “Best for Vets: Business Schools” list.
The University Sales Education Foundation named WVU a 2012 Top University for Professional Sales Education. WVU’s Professional Sales Institute, part of the College of Business and Economics, was recognized on USEF’s list of top 60 sales schools in North America.
WVU earned mention on G.I.Jobs’ list of “military friendly schools” for the fourth straight year.
The College of Business and Economics was ranked as number 90 in the Best Undergraduate Business Schools of 2011, in the Bloomberg Businessweek.
The National Law Journal named the WVU College of Law a “Go-To” law school. WVU ranked No. 33 among 50 institutions in its first appearance on NLJ’s list that identifies schools with the highest percentage of juris doctor graduates hired by the 250 largest law firms.
In 2011, WVU was ranked in the top 20 “Best Places to Work in Academia” by The Scientist magazine—1 of only 2 land-grant institutions and just 4 comprehensive universities in total made the list.
The College of Law ranked 15th nationally in Best Law Schools in Public Interest in the Winter 2011 edition of Pre Law Magazine.
WVU Healthcare has been named to the Most Wired list of hospitals and health systems in the U.S.
The Sport Management Program in the College of Physical Activity and Sport Sciences was rated as one of the top 15 graduate programs in sport management by SportBiz magazine.
WVU Hospitals is one of only 15 institutions in the U.S. named as a best employer for workers over 50 by AARP.
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and U.S. Department of Transportation designated WVU as one of the Best Workplaces for Commuters.
