West Virginia University

WVU is ranked as a Research University (High Research Activity) by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching.

WVU is among the top 100 public universities. In U.S. News & World Report’s Best Colleges 2015 rankings, WVU ranked No. 93.

WVU is ranked the 6th most-affordable in-state tuition, according to the College Board’s 2013 Trends in College Pricing’s list of average tuition and fees. Out-of-state tuition at West Virginia four-year public institutions was ranked 11th most affordable.

A number of programs were ranked in U.S. News and World Report’s 2016 edition of America’s Best Graduate Schools, including:

The School of Nursing online graduate programs rank 10th in the nation, according to Graduate Programs Foundation. (2014)

The Professional Sales Institute in the College of Business and Economics earned a ranking as one of the top sales schools in North America for the fourth consecutive year, as announced by the Sales Education Foundation in its “Top Universities for Professional Sales Education.” (2015)

The College of Business and Economics’ Executive MBA program was ranked No. 8 in the nation by U.S. News & World Report in its Best Online Graduate Business Programs for Veterans. The online graduate nursing program in the School of Nursing earned a No. 16 ranking. (2014)

In its inaugural rankings of Best Online Programs for Veterans, U.S. News & World Report ranked three WVU graduate programs in the top five: nursing, No. 3; business, No. 5; and education, No. 5.

For the third consecutive year, U.S. News & World Report named WVU Hospitals, with its flagship hospital Ruby Memorial, the No. 1 hospital in West Virginia. The national magazine also listed WVUH as high-performing in 12 medical specialties. (2014)

WVU was ranked No. 5 on FierceHealthcare.com’s top 10 list of nurse-friendly hospitals in the U.S. (2014)

WVU was ranked 43rd in the Military Times “Best for Vets” list for 2015. The College of Business and Economics ranked 12th in the 2014 Military Times’ first “Best for Vets: Business Schools” list.

WVU earned mention on G.I.Jobs’ list of “military friendly schools” for the fourth straight year.

The National Law Journal named the WVU College of Law a “Go-To” law school. WVU ranked No. 33 among 50 institutions in its first appearance on NLJ’s list that identifies schools with the highest percentage of juris doctor graduates hired by the 250 largest law firms.

WVU Healthcare has been named to the Most Wired list of hospitals and health systems in the U.S.

In AARP’s biennial rankings of the nation’s Best Employers for Workers Over 50, WVU ranked seventh.
