Mountaineer spirit is a way of life in Morgantown. Sporting News described Morgantown as the 25th-best sports city in the nation – quite a feat for a town with no pro teams. Morgantown also was listed as one of “America’s Top College Football Towns” by Budget Travel and one of the south’s best college towns by Southern Living.
‘Once a Mountaineer, always a Mountaineer’
Wherever our alumni and fans go – from vacationing in the Italian Alps to serving with the Air Force in Afghanistan – they carry the Mountaineer spirit with them and display WVU’s Flying WV logo with pride. The WVU Alumni Association has more than 100 registered chapters and constituent groups across the country, plus international chapters in China, Japan, Kuwait, Malaysia, Thailand, South Korea and Taiwan.
There are more than 200,000 worldwide WVU alumni.
In the largest single gift commitment ever to WVU, alumnus Benjamin Statler and his wife, Jo, pledged $34 million to support engineering and mineral resources programs.
