WVU is among the top 100 public universities. In U.S. News and World Report's Best Colleges 2018 undergraduate rankings, WVU is tied for 99th.
U.S. News & World Report ranked WVU Medicine-WVU Hospitals Urology 26th in the nation. (Best Hospitals rankings, 2017-18)
WVU Medicine-West Virginia University Hospitals was ranked the sixth top academic medical center out of more than 200 participating organizations in Vizient’s Quality and Accountability Study.
College Factual ranked the Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources in the top 10 percent of all engineering schools (28th out of 302) for offering the best value for the money for undergraduate degree programs. (2017)
WVU is among the top 40 safest campuses in the United States (34th out of 2,000 colleges assessed), according to the National Council for Home Safety and Security. (2017)
College Rank rated WVU’s education abroad program 19th in the U.S. and third overall among public institutions. (2016)
The Military Times Best for Vets: College 2017 rankings rated WVU 26th out of more than 500 schools. It's the fifth consecutive year WVU made the list. (2016)
The Professional Sales Institute in the College of Business and Economics earned a ranking as one of the top sales schools in North America for the sixth consecutive year, as announced by the Sales Education Foundation in its "Top Universities for Professional Sales Education." (2017)
In its inaugural rankings of Best Online Programs for Veterans, U.S. News & World Report ranked three WVU graduate programs in the top five: nursing, No. 3; business, No. 5; and education, No. 5.
The National Law Journal named the WVU College of Law a "Go-To" law school. WVU ranked No. 33 among 50 institutions in its first appearance on NLJ's list that identifies schools with the highest percentage of juris doctor graduates hired by the 250 largest law firms.
In AARP's biennial rankings of the nation's Best Employers for Workers Over 50, WVU ranked seventh.
WVU was named a 2017 Military Friendly Employer by Victory Media the only higher education institution to make the list. Victory Media has also named WVU a Military Friendly School for the past eight years. WVU is the only university to receive both designations.
With over 2,000 hired in 2016, WVU Medicine earned the title of Job Creator of the Year from The Exponent Telegram's editorial board.
